"Master Printmaker speaking on the Boston Printmakers Miniature Traveling Print Exhibit"

Master printmaker and painter, Eric Goldberg of Mansfield, CT, will speak on Saturday afternoon, May 17th at 2pm at Gallery 297, 297 Hope Street in Bristol, RI on the formation of the Boston Printmakers' Small Print Traveling Exhibit and about the various techniques used by the 71 printmakers. The exhibit will be on view at Gallery 297 through Saturday, May 31st. This program is open free to the public…just bring a folding chair, stool or cushion and enjoy a casual afternoon of art and light refreshments.

Mr. Goldberg studied at Parsons School of Design (NYC), The New School for Social Research (NYC), received his BFA from New York University and his graduate degree from New Mexico University in painting and printmaking. His artwork is held in many corporate, public and private collections, including General Electric and the Taiwan National Museum of Fine Arts. In 2003 he retired after twenty years as chair of a college Fine Arts/Design department to pursue his painting and printmaking full-time. His paintings range in size from murals to works that could be described as almost miniatures. Goldberg's prints are primarily etchings and usually contain a wide range of aquatints, which he hand-burnishes much in the way one would work a mezzotint. His subject matter ranges from still life to landscape to portrait. Critics and reviewers have described his paintings and prints as “meditative, contemplative and uplifting”.
